High low game. Best low is a 6-4. Best high and low five card hands split pot, unless only four cards survive, in which case best four card hands win.
Each player is dealt four cards down, and eight cards are dealt face down in two four card columns, one with a red chip above it and the other with a black chip above it. These are common cards and are turned over two at a time, one from each column. There is a betting round before any cards are turned over and after each pair of cards is turned, as well as after the declaration. If the cards turned over match the color of the chip above the column, the cards remain face up and can be used by all as common cards. If a spade or club is turned over in the red column, or a heart or diamond in the black column, however, the card is discarded and cannot be used. So a hand can consist of as many as 12 or as few as four cards depending on how the cards turn out. Once all cards have been turned over, there is a customary declaration.
I know how much each of you have been looking forward to these rules. — Art Lowenstein
