Petey de Paris

They called him Petey de Paris in those days.

An impoverished postgrad student working on his thesis, "Marxian Betting Patterns As Empirically Observed in the Practice of Bundles and Its Derivatives" at the Sorbonne, Petey fell under the spell of Eldridge Cleaver. Before he knew it, Petey de Paris was earning extra cash as a runway model for Cleaver's visionary (as in "sight to be seen") line of fashionable cod pieces. Unregrettably, I was unable to find a contemporary picture of Petey modeling said fashion apparatus in a fashion show, so this newspaper spread of his boss and mentor will have to do for now.

In my continuing effort to bring you balanced and accurate depictions of Cronies in their past lives (e.g., here and here), I have resisted Bobaloo's entreaties to Photoshop Petey de Paris' head into the adjacent spread.

Nor have I confirmed rumors that late-night dorm room discussions with Petey resulted in Cleaver's turning to the Republican Party for comfort (see Cleaver's "In the 1980s" entry in Wikipedia), or located the manuscript to the book the two pals were purportedly working on at the time of Cleaver's untimely death: "I'll SEE the 30 and Lesser Leadership Lessons From Two Looney Lefties Who Learned To Lean Libertarian (And Snivel at the Same Time)."
