Supersized Victory Over Mac II

The leather was on display tonight, boys, in our 9-2 victory over Mac II. Arch, Rick and Robert and Pete all snared grounders to their left or right that would have gotten though the usual way-far-above-average-55-plus infielder. A few neat grabs in the outfield, too, particularly Jimmy going back to near the centerfield fence and Fred holding on to a liner he lost in the lights. The bottom of the order -- Thom, Steve T., Mark, Bob and  Steve H. -- came through big time in the bottom of the four-run second with a string of singles, capped by Lary's two RBI liner up the middle. Ed scored two and knocked in two in the two hole, Arch hit one of his patented triples and Rick showed a nice bit of situational hitting, slicing a liner down the right-field line with a runner on first for a two bagger. Finally, a big huzzah to Steve H., who stepped into Jason's still-large (even if nothing else is) shoes and pitched a gem in his Reachers' debut.

See most of you Monday at 6:30, when Marty Levy will take the mound against the always competitive Four Corners.

I have a Columbia sweatshirt, by the way, that I suspect belongs to Bob (although it's powder blue and not his traditional canary yellow).
